Guess the location from inside the car | Car Lease Special Offers

Although many countries are easing their doors open to overseas visitors, it’s unlikely summer 2020 will be a return to normal. When it comes to one-a-minute airport departures and packed beer gardens, anyhow.

Perhaps the only norm for the few holidaying abroad this year will be the early morning rush for a spot by the pool – the race for a socially distanced sunbed isn’t one we want to be involved in.

So, inspired by the lack of international travel and from-the-settee sightseeing that’s replaced it, we’re asking if you can spot these world locations from inside a car. No prize, but it’s the taking part that counts.

Inspired by the lockdown’s block on international movement, we go on a virtual road trip around the world – can you recognise the cities?

Through the tunnel

Bit of an easy one to kick things off – if you pick up on the clues in the image above – and a location that’s only a short hop from the UK. It also isn’t too far to drive to, if you were to opt against flying.

Across the border

Further south again, and on to another popular destination for UK holidaymakers. Home to whacky architecture and a superpower of world sport, it’s more of a city break, but there’s also a beach close by for those who’d rather spend their time sunbathing.

Closer to home

If we’re being honest, this isn’t a location that’d make most top 10 lists, but one that’s important to Car Lease Special Offers. And there are reasons to visit, including a cathedral that holds countless records and Stonehenge, which is less than ten miles away.

Other side of the world

As the header suggests, this spot is further from the UK than any of the others. You’ll find some stunning scenery – as animated on a Disney film about a lost fish – if you’re willing to make the long trip, but it’s certainly not one you’d want to take by car.

Bright lights

Another iconic skyline and one of the world’s most densely populated areas. Almost Asia’s answer to Monaco, it borders mainland China and is officially part of the country, but operates as its own state. We’re hoping you don’t need any more clues.

The tip of Africa

Across to Africa and a former World Cup host city. Sitting between a towering mountain and the South Atlantic, the city’s about as photogenic as they come. It’s also a big surfing spot, if that helps narrow it down.

A city with two names

Here’s another in Asia and, as the header states, a city that’s commonly known by two names. For the Top Gear fans among our readers, you might recognise it from one of the specials featuring Clarkson, Hammond and May.

Going stateside

For this round, America’s west coast. This should be instantly recognisable, not least for the city’s near-vertical roads. Petrolheads might know it from a Steve McQueen classic, or if films on four wheels aren’t your thing, Mrs. Doubtfire.

Life on the beach

We’ve been generous with the clues here, especially as we think the image alone is obvious enough. Without being overly specific, this is another World Cup host city and also one that features in the Fast & Furious series. That’s your lot.

Final destination

A nice and easy one for the final round. So easy, in fact, that we aren’t giving any clues this time. Select your answer below and the next screen will show your score as a percentage – anything around 50% is a respectable score, but 80%+ and we’re impressed.

Dust yourself off and try again!

There are no losers here, only those who can’t tell their Sydneys from their Salisburys. Hit ‘play again’ and jump straight back into the quiz.

Getting there

Middle of the road - room for improvement, but a decent effort nonetheless. Again!

A strong performance

You’re well travelled if you fall under this bracket, but so close to the top prize you may as well give it another go!

What an effort!

We’re genuinely impressed, fair play!
